More Google reviews, without gating them
Happy customers rarely review because writing is work. How to make it a two-minute job at the counter and on WhatsApp, while every rating still reaches Google.

Building the platform this article is about

Ask a happy customer for a Google review and most will say yes. Very few will do it. Not because they changed their mind, but because a blank text box asking “share details of your own experience” is homework, and they have a bus to catch.
The fix is not to ask harder. It is to make the review take two minutes, at the moment they are happiest, and to do it in a way Google is comfortable with.
What not to do
Google’s policy for Maps reviews is clear on three things. No fake reviews, written by you or bought from someone. No incentives: a discount or a freebie in exchange for a review is not allowed. And no selectively asking only happy customers for reviews, a practice usually called review gating, where a “How did we do?” screen sends four- and five-star customers to Google and everyone else to a private form.
Gating is tempting, and it is the one most tools quietly build in. It also puts your listing at risk.
Make it easy for everyone
Ohanvi’s review page works the same for every customer. They scan the QR code at your counter, tap their stars and answer a few one-tap questions set for your industry: what they came in for, what they liked, which staff member helped.
Then they can press “Write my review”, and the AI writes up to three drafts — short, detailed and warm — from their own answers, in their own language, in any of 10 languages plus Hinglish. The drafts never invent a detail and never state a star count. The customer picks one, edits it if they like, and posts it from their own Google account. One tap copies it and opens your Google review form.
A customer who would rather talk can press “Speak instead”. Their speech becomes text, and the audio is never stored.
Every rating reaches the same button
Every customer sees the same Post on Google button, whatever they rate. A customer who gives one to three stars can also send you a private note, but it sits below the Google button and never replaces or disables it.
Their draft is different only in tone: a one-to-three-star draft stays plain, a sentence or two, with no promotion. The customer still decides what to post.
The private notes land in their own inbox in Ohanvi, with an unread count per branch and a comment field only your team sees. That is your chance to put things right, whatever they then post.
Ask on WhatsApp, after the visit
The QR code catches people at the counter. Most visits end somewhere else: after a delivery, a salon appointment, a clinic visit. Ohanvi’s flow builder has a ready-made starter, “Ask for a Google review after an appointment”, which sends the review link on WhatsApp once the visit is over, to the contact who booked.
Because it is a flow, nobody on your team has to remember to ask, and everybody gets asked, not just the ones who smiled.
Watch it work, branch by branch
Each branch has its own review page, QR flyer and numbers: how many opened the page, how many drafts the AI wrote, how many reviews were copied to Google, and your Google rating over time, checked about once a week. A profile check reads your listing on Google Maps, marks what to fix, and compares you with similar businesses within about two kilometres.
What it costs
No monthly fee. The review page, flyer, private notes and stats are included on every plan. AI drafts are ₹5 each time a customer asks for them, or ₹1,000 a branch for a year with no per-draft charge. The WhatsApp ask after a visit is charged at your plan’s per-message rate.

Questions this answers
- What is review gating?
- Asking only happy customers for Google reviews — for example, sending four- and five-star ratings to Google and lower ones to a private form. Google’s policy for Maps reviews prohibits it.
- How can I get more Google reviews without breaking Google’s rules?
- Ask every customer, make reviewing quick, offer nothing in return, and let them post from their own account. Ohanvi’s review page shows every customer the same Post on Google button whatever they rate, and helps them write from their own answers.
- Can I ask for Google reviews on WhatsApp?
- Yes. Ohanvi’s “Ask for a Google review after an appointment” starter flow sends your review link on WhatsApp after each visit, to every customer.
