The 2 AM customer: what your AI agent does at night
Customers shop when they cannot sleep. What a WhatsApp AI agent handles after closing time, what it leaves for the morning, and how the owner finds it.

Building the platform this article is about

This is an illustration of how the product behaves, not a customer story. Picture a home-décor shop that sells cushion covers and table linen on WhatsApp. The owner closes at nine. The phone does not stop.
11:40 pm — a question with an answer
A customer asks whether the blue cushion covers come in a set of five. The answer is in the shop’s price list, which the owner gave the agent. It replies in the language the customer wrote in, from that list, and shows the product cards with buttons to pick one.
1:15 am — an order, with nobody awake
Another customer browses the catalog the agent showed, fills a cart and sends it. The WhatsApp Store takes over from there on its own: it asks for the delivery address in WhatsApp’s address form, then Pay now or Cash on delivery. The order is in Store → Orders before anyone at the shop wakes up.
2:05 am — a question without an answer
Someone asks if the shop can stitch covers to a custom size. Nothing in the agent’s knowledge says yes or no, so it does not guess. The customer gets the shop’s hand-off line, saying someone will reply in the morning, and the chat moves to the Team Inbox with the agent’s draft beside it as a suggestion.
2:30 am — a customer who wants a person
A customer types “talk to someone”. The agent never argues with that. The chat goes straight to the inbox.
Morning
The owner had quiet hours on in the Ohanvi phone app, so nothing buzzed overnight, but the in-app bell kept the list. In the morning the handed-over chats are waiting in the inbox, the order is in the Store, and the questions the agent answered are in the conversation history if anyone wants to read them.
The agent covered the hours nobody works. It did not decide anything the owner had not already written down.
What the night cost
₹2 for each reply the agent wrote, plus the WhatsApp message each reply goes out as, charged like any reply. Store messages such as the address request are WhatsApp messages too.
